Grounding/Earthing for Stress Relief and Well Being


Many people have never heard of the term "Grounding" or "Earthing" which are invariably the same thing. It refers to connecting electrically with the earth and usually means walking barefoot on sand, earth, lakes, beaches, or even concrete. The earth has everything we need for our well being and that includes an abundant resource of negatively charged free electrons. But why do we need this? Considering how our modern day society is filled with EMF's (electromagnetic field) radiation and how it can cause high voltages within our bodies; we might actually need grounding to help us get back to center. Inevitably it also causes trillions of subtle disruptions of electrical communications that our bodies need to keep the system going smoothly. Really our bodies are not meant to withstand such high amounts of energy and in some cases, people that live in high emf locations tend to report heart problems. Now we all know how much we love the beach! It could be the beautiful natural scenery and the calming sensation when we hear the waters small waves gently touch the shallow edges. But what we are not aware of is that we are barefoot for hours and reaping the benefits of earthing. I for one can attest to the stress relieving and calming effect I get from earthing. I took my sister with me one day to a small lake with small sandy area and we just sat there for a while and within half an hour we started to feel really sleepy. Well let me tell you, I went home and passed right out! I don't think I woke up again until 10 pm and I had come back by about 5:30 pm. Of course relaxation and stress relief are just some of the benefits but they also include improved immune function, digestion, sleep, healing of injuries, blood circulation, reduced inflammation, anxiety, irritability, and of course electrosensitivity. I believe nature has a lot of what we need to heal and thrive; after all there must be a reason why in a study rehab patients who had a bedroom with a window out looking nature healed faster than those out looking a brick wall.
